Everybody's leaving. Sigh.
Anyway, life has been pretty darn boring for me. Let's do a recap of what I did/am doing, from the earliest days of my SPM freedom up till now.
- Found a forum which pays members to post. 1 cent per reply. I thought it was a good deal, so I signed up and since then, posted a lot of crap.
- Learned about domain names and hosting.
- Got myself a free domain name (http://thehakkamoneymaker.co.cc) through reading a particularly useful thread at the forum.
- Free domain, no hosting also no use. What to do?
- Went to ANOTHER forum, where points earned through posting is converted to hosting service. Yay.
- By now I hosted my domain at the free host service. But then site is empty wor, no content.
- Fine, I need to do something. Let's install a blog.
- How the bloody #)#!&@!_)$&! do you use cPanel??!! What the heck is it??
- Turns out cPanel is a system to manage your site. I learned a bit about uploading files through FTP (File Transfer Protocol), learned a bit of MySQL database.
- Installed the blog. Now I officially have a working site, with a working blog.
- Blog theme looks lame. Wanted change it. But it's all in CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) so I knocked myself in the head. Don't know a single thing about CSS.
- Went to Wisma Hopoh bought E-books about CSS for dummies. Learned quite a bit.
- Too lazy to do CSS layout from scratch, so I decided to delete the whole blog. What a waste of time
- By now I earned $2.50 from the said forum.
And today, I officially become the proud owner of hakkamoneymaker.info! Woopee! I bought the domain name at 99 cents (USD). Lucky me, found a coupon code, otherwise it's 8.95$ at usual price.
Funny, right? Everything started from that day, that exact day when I was feeling bored to death and decided to post for fun. In about 3 weeks I learned more about domains, hosting, FTP, SQL database and CSS than I ever possibly could know in my entire life before this.
Next stop: C++ programming. *mwahaha* But feeling guilty coz I dropped Photoshop. Wanted to learn that initially.
Learning all this at least could stop my brain from decaying somewhat. Others are starting college while I'm stuck here. Bleargh. How I wish time flies.
Oh yea, important announcement: OUR BELOVED BONG WEN HANN IS OFFICIALLY TOGETHER WITH JONG WEI TEING!
For people who doesn't know the story, they both like each other for a long time yet didn't know it until Wendy de Hann told Wei Teing. Irony eh?
Wei Teing is a nice girl anyway.
May the happy newlyweds enjoy their courtship for, what, 2 weeks. Then its boo-hoo time again when Wendy de Hann goes to New Zealand.

Boulevard Shopping Mall..
.. sucks. Big time.
Why, you may ask? Well I went there recently. I'll give a detailed description of the place.
Firstly, building a shopping mall beside a tiny strip of road isn't really a good idea. The road was already congested before they build Boulevard. Irresponsible drivers park their vehicles at the roadside. I mean, come on la, the parking is FREE! People! What's wrong with you??! Now its a perfect recipe for disaster. I pity anyone who's dying in an ambulance to be stuck there.
They really shouldn't have opened the place to the public that fast. I know, I live near that area. I saw the building go up from day 1, literally. Heard somewhere that the tauke of Boulevard was SOOOOOoooo kiasu and kiasi that he ordered the construction be sped up. Why? There's and upcoming new mall - The Spring, which is BIGGER, BETTER and with lots more PARKING SPACE than Boulevard. Once it opens, Boulevard will really just be another plaza and sink into oblivion. So I literally saw how they sped up the construction like slaves being whipped from behind by a big fat tauke. Pun intended.
The parking area was dusty and there were pools of storm water from the rain three days ago. (!!) wth.. drainage also lousy, I shudder to think about the building's structural integrity and strength. So its not a surprise to see beam and cement bags and scaffolding everywhere. There's a scaffold holding up the ceiling in B2 parking area. (!!!!) Omg.. And heck, the place smells of dust. Cement dust. I pity the people dining at Sushi King. Eat Dust Sushi.
Speaking of which, there are some good eateries opening up there. Sushi King, KFC, Pizza Hut etc. But there's no friggin Coffee Bean. BAD MOVE! But perhaps they calculated that 4th mile people drink green tea for breakfast instead.
Anyway, when I went there, HALF the place (shops) was empty, literally. They are still doing renovation works la. Yet the visitors and shoppers throng the place like pasar malam. I was like " what the heck.. what's wrong with these people.. " The whole shopping mall was tiny, by comparison. This statement might be due to the fact that I've seen the biggest shopping complex in Malaysia. One Utama, that is. The place is HUGE with lots of shopping avenues, just like.. a whale in an ocean. By comparison, Boulevard fares like ikan bilis, beside the behemoth.
The layout of the place is below average. Say, you wanna buy canned sardines and you're in the clothes section, you have to walk ALL THE WAY down 2 or 3 escalators, squeeze past the crowd (they stand there obstructing people, nothing better to do at home) and inhale cement dust before you even see the canned foods section. In other words, the whole place is.. a mess. I feel disoriented after 15 minutes inside. They don't put up signs to show where the foodstuffs are, the clothes are and whatever thingamajig you wanna find. Talk about bad planning.
There are some brands, albeit common ones, inside Boulevard departmental store itself. Yet I see no friggin Bonia or Valentino Rudy or G2000. ( I heard that G2000 will set up its first store at The Spring ) Well maybe they just wanna cater to the needs of the people from that area.. Not many millionaires in Kuching.
So.. I've written a detailed ( I hope, do ignore the criticisms ) description of Boulevard shopping mall. I'd give it 6 months to see whether it even survives. So for those who haven't been there, you did not miss anything. That is, unless you like Dust Sushi. Courtesy of Sushi King.

News - ‘People wanted me to quit’
Anyway, since I'm bored, I'll put this up. Minister sex scandal, bloody embarrassing for us Chinese.
PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek quit all his government and political posts because Malaysians wanted him to do so after he admitted being the man in the sex DVD.
“Well, after I made the confession, I hoped Malaysians would be able to accept my apology. But unfortunately, based on the feedback that I have received, I observed that Malaysians were unable to do that,” he a told a press conference yesterday.
Dr Chua said his resignation as Health Minister, Labis MP, MCA vice-president, Johor MCA state liaison chairman and Batu Pahat MCA division chief took effect immediately.
I resign: Dr Chua announcing his resignation during a press conference in Putrajaya on Wednesday.
Excerpts from the press conference:
THE ANNOUCEMENT
With this, I would like to announce that I have conveyed my intention to the Honourable Prime Minister, the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and also to the Yang Berhormat MCA president that I am resigning as Health Minister immediately. With that, I also resign from my posts as Labis MP, MCA vice president, Johor MCA state liaison chairman and Batu Pahat division chief.
This will take effect with the letter that I have handed over to the Prime Minister’s Department. However, I will continue to support the leadership of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
Even though I do not hold posts from today, I will continue to be with my fellow comrades in MCA. As a member who has held government posts for almost 20 years, I will continue to support the Barisan Nasional government.
THE RESIGNATION
Q: Datuk Seri, why did you change your mind after 24 hours?
A: Well, after I made the confession, I hoped Malaysians would be able to accept my apology. But unfortunately, based on the feedback that I have received, I observed that Malaysians were unable to do that. Some Malaysians can be said to be “holier than thou”. This means they are all ulama (religious teachers). So, I think if I continue to hold positions in the party or Government, this will be a burden to the Government and party, especially in the context of Islam Hadhari. And also in the context of what has been recommended by my president, which is healthy political culture.
However, I hope my resignation, which is based supposedly on moral issues, will be a lesson to other leaders, whether from the MCA or any other component party. I think anyone who has made a mistake or has certain weaknesses, then he has to be responsible as a leader.
And I have already stepped forward in front of not only the leaders of the country and party but the people. And it looks like it cannot be accepted. So, I think it is better for my family and I that I resign so that I will not be a burden to the country’s leadership.
Q: Will this matter severely affect the support from the Chinese community for Barisan?
A: No. I thought a lot of people think I am a baggage to carry because they want to behave like “holier than thou”. Maybe the support will increase.
Q: Why is that so?
A: Because then they think all they have in the Government are all very clean.
Q: When did you send in your letter?
A: I have already sent it before I see you people.
Q: What about the timing?
A: I think the timing is not important. The important thing is that I make the official announcement in front of all of you. The letter to the Prime Minister has been sent and is finding its way to the Prime Minister’s office. In this context, I also want to thank MCA members and supporters and also the MCA leaders who have given their support and cooperation to me all this time since I became wakil rakyat in 1986. And also as Health Minister, I want to thank and extend my appreciation to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and also the Barisan Nasional leadership in the Cabinet, who have supported and co-operated with me.
So, beginning today, I am a regular citizen and with that, I hope I will not be a target by certain parties.
The Prime Minister has assured that the Government will investigate the source and who is behind the tape so that it does not become a practice to cause the downfall of anyone.
I am not the first and I will not be the last to become the victim in this way to bring a leader down whether at state or national level. I am sure I will not be the first and I will not be the last.
Q: Was the decision to quit made based on the input from these “holier than thou” people or was it also on the advice from other people?
A: Well, I think the Malaysians.
They say you wear a mask to go to work. That is not what I say. That is what Shakespeare said.
Q: So, it was solely your decision?
A: Yes. Because I cannot have an image that I am holier than thou. Whatever the decision I make, it will always be subjected to scrutiny.
Q: When did you decide?
A: Just now. This morning. After I announced it, I thought the results would be good. But Astro reports that 91% want me to resign. China Press says 99% wants me to resign. So, it is better that I resign.
Q: Is the resignation because the response was not as you expected?
A: I thought it would be a bold move. Because my character is that I dare to fight, I dare to say and I dare to bear responsibility to the people. Some people said I should deny it. That I did not do it. But it has affected the party and the Government, that is why I chose to admit. But it seems honesty does not always pay. The people still cannot accept it.
Q: Do you think the moral judgement was too strict?
A: It does not guarantee anything. Some people are lucky not to get caught.
ON THE SEX DVD
Q: Was it politically motivated?
A: I have said before I would not like to speculate. I have received no less than 200 SMSes condemning certain party leaders of which I will not go into it. Because the moment I go into it, I do not like to see my party split. And I hope the party leadership under YB Ong Ka Ting, who I am sure if he is practising real healthy political culture, will look into this. Healthy political culture embraces no corruption, no moral lapses of judgement. A healthy political culture should not just be confined to just term of office. That is easy. Anyone can fulfil it. The terms of office are the easiest to fulfil. Three terms, two terms. Healthy political culture is good but it should be all embracing and not just term of office. What is more important and what is hoped for and demanded by Malaysians is to be clean from the aspect of no corruption and also in the question of no moral and ethical weaknesses. To me, this is more important and more difficult to achieve.
Q: What about the woman in the video?
A: I think that is not important. I should not be discussing my private life. If you are interested, maybe you should see the tape together with me. Okay? Would you like to see the tape with me?
Q: Do you think it was probably political sabotage?
A: I have been in politics for more than 20 years. I do not participate in any business activities. I do not think any business people have anything against me. I do not think it is about money because I did not receive any calls of blackmail.
Q: Maybe it was planned, Datuk Seri?
A: I have said that I do not want to make speculations. And I implore MCA members not to speculate on who did this to me. It is not a healthy political culture.
ON MCA
Q: What was the response of the party president when you resigned?
A: As party president, of course he wants to see the party united. He wants to see everybody give the party and Barisan Nasional 100% support. But there are times, in a democratic country, when even the president and Prime Minister are constrained and there are limitations – because it is the rakyat that is supreme.
HIS FAMILY
Q: Is your family aware of your decision to quit?
A: I just informed them. That is why my son got a shock – because I thank my family. You all must understand that I live in a very closely-knit family. When I was a doctor and exco member, I stayed with my father. And my children stayed with my grandfather and me. Today, my children stay with me and my grandson also stays with me. My family is a big family in that sense. My two sons and daughter stay in the house. And my grandson also stays together. So, I am confident that my family supports me because of the strong family cohesion that we have.

First post of 2008, post apocalypse.
~ This is my first post-apocalypse 2008 entry. Humanity, as we know it, is virtually wiped out by KV. THe virus, initially designed to combat cancer, has now infected humans and turned them into flesh-eating, monstrous.. things. Pity. Together with other sruviving bloggers who keep in touch, through blogging, we hold out against these Darkseekers. How long shall we hold out.. we know not. Pray to God we'll survive to see Kuching disinfected again. If we can't hold it.. then God have mercy on our souls.. ~
Too dramatic? Lol. 2008 is a dramatic new start. No school, no friends to have fun with, no bloody Sejarah to memorise or Add Maths to waste brain juice with. Alone at home, stuck with a lousy computer and a horny-serial-killer-on-the-loose novel to chew on.
By the way, the opening sentences are inspired by I am Legend. Awesome movie, Will Smith in his best form. Dramatic, shocking, sad, intriguing.. It's one of the best I've watched so far.
I finished playing Star Wars Republic Commando. Very awesome game. Yet, to think I really finished the whole thing in a week, speaks volumes about my boredom and how much I waste my time, storing adipose tissues underneath my sagging skin, staring at the computer, watching endless episodes of Tsubasa Chronicles. Life is good. Speaking of which, Republic Commando is quite fun. The developers really put in a lot of effort to make the game. It's really life-like, your commando squad mates are top-notch, impressive AI, with lots of weapons to boot. Enemy AI are the smartest I've seen in a game. Like, shoot a rocket at them, they can dodge it. And your team CAN dogde incoming missiles too. I was like, WOW. Not bad. And they talk, sometimes funnily. The game shows a gritty military aspect of Star Wars which is pretty real, unlike the Jedi's MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU and LIGHTSABRES and SITH crap to bore your tiny brains. For all first person shooter fans out there, I'd recommend the game. Its really impressive. Here's the vid, showing something about the game. It's not really from the game, but you'll get the idea.

ANYway, I've finally mastered the art of how-not-to-stall-your-engine-while-reversing-the-car. Lol. It is fun to learn how to drive.
Sigh. Where is everyone.. I'm bored. Obviously.
Well since its new year, what about something as trivial and unimportant as new year resolution? Yay! I love new year resolutions! Provides a reminder not to follow them! Yeehaa~ I'm such an idiot.
Wishlist for 2008
- SPM straight A1's.
- Get a scholarship. Anywhere, I don't care. Desperate. Just gimme the bloody JPA scholarship and I'll not complain, and I'll vote Barisan Nasional for 5 years. Only. Oh, I revere you, the power of democracy! XD
- Get a new laptop, a handphone and a camera.
- Get slim, and taller. Which is quite impossible.
Things I intend to do in 2008
- Be courteous, humble and gentleman-like.
- Drink more water. LOL.
Humility, my key phrase in 2008. I'm gonna shut up and keep my head down for the year. The Feng Shui Master Dr. Christopher Lau did mention its gonna be a rough year for the Horse. Horsies offend Tai Sui this Rat Year. Aiyo.. what a pity. For those concerned enough, here's a pointer. Wear something gold to smoothen the bad energy and keep Tai Sui off your arse. If it works and you don't break your bones for the year, donate RM10 to me. Then I'll buy you daffodils when you graduate from wherever you're going.
Enough crap talk for now.. Crap is bad for health. Now click the lil' cross or the lil red button on the top right corner of this screen, and get the hell outta here. Or I'll call the Machete Man and chop off your right wrist. (It's from the horny-serial-killer-on-the-loose novel I'm reading.)
